What does it mean to move more for your health, not just for the scale?

Such a great mindset shift! When living with heart disease, exercise isn't just about losing weight — it's about strengthening your heart and improving your overall quality of life.

Here's what regular movement can do for your heart health:

- Lower blood pressure
- Reduce LDL ("bad") cholesterol and raise HDL ("good") cholesterol
- Improve artery health
- Reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events like heart failure or stroke
- Boost mood, reduce stress, and improve sleep The good news is that even small amounts of movement count. Research shows that adding just 1,000 steps per day can meaningfully reduce cardiovascular risks — you don't need to run a marathon!

Some easy ways to sneak more movement in:

- Take the stairs instead of the elevator
- Dance to your favorite music at home
- Go for a leisurely bike ride
- Meet a friend for a slow, easy walk

If you're just getting started, try 10–15 minutes a day and build from there. Always check with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine so it's tailored safely to your needs.
