First off — huge congratulations on quitting cigarettes! That is genuinely one of the best things you can do for your heart, and it takes real strength. Give yourself credit for that win.

That said, your doctor said no exercise until after the catheterization, and with a heart function of 35–40%, that guidance is really important to follow. Pushing past those limits, even lightly, could put unnecessary strain on your heart right now. The good news is there are still productive things to do while you wait! Here are some heart-healthy steps to focus on right now:

- Cut back on salt — many MyHeartDiseaseTeam members have found this helps reduce swelling and eases symptoms
- Review your diet — reducing sweets and processed foods is a great place to start
- Stay hydrated and rest well
- Write down questions for your cardiologist about what comes next after the procedure
- Prepare mentally — look into what cardiac rehab or a supervised exercise program might look like post-procedure

Two weeks will go faster than you think, and going in well-rested and prepared is genuinely productive. Your heart will thank you for the patience! 💙

No exercise means no exercise. I get your are fidgity. I used to chew a toothpick or sip straw (the kind in drinks or coffee stirrers). To deal with the oral fixation. To take your mind off it, I suggest doing a jigsaw puzzle or playing cards (online works too, and I have some links to share. ) Now, get busy, relax, put your feet up, you are doing great!!!!!!! https://www.jigsawplanet.com/ or https://www.solitr.com/

In dealing with the oral fixation, cinnamon sticks also help.
