For heart health, the key focus should be on getting regular physical activity rather than hitting a specific step count. The American Heart Association recommends:

- 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise weekly (like brisk walking)
OR
- 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity weekly (like running)
PLUS
- Two strength-training sessions per week The most important thing is to start where you're comfortable and gradually increase your activity level. Many MyHeartDiseaseTeam members have found success by:

- Pacing themselves
- Staying hydrated
- Taking rest breaks as needed
- Walking at a slower, manageable pace
- Building up duration gradually

Remember that any increase in physical activity can benefit your heart health, even if you can't meet these targets immediately.

Subrina hello. I try to get as many steps possible to burn calories, and have a strong heart. The fast steps I get at least 7000 on my walks, the rest of them as I work around the house. Here's an example. From the track/ course I walk on.
