I had a heart attack on January 25th and found out last week by my Cardiologist that I do have 3 blockages that aren't blocked enough to stent.I hope I'm able to handle the anxiety I don't realize I am having without taking medicine. I have never been on medicine prior to the heart attack. I know that I have been blessed to make it to 65 years old without being on daily medicine.
A Nuclear Stress Test is NOT to be feared! But …speaking from experience it is a difficult test to go through…but it is Over quickly enough and the data that it exposes is very Helpful! Don’t be afraid and don’t worry I have had two at different hospitals in different cities! In Both of those tests the uncomfortable part lasts a VERY SHORT TIME and then go away completely in an equally quick fashion…You will be monitored by a nurse at least as well as a Radiologist! You will be well attended to and it will ALL be over quickly enough! My prayers are with you as always! I went into my heart story with a diagnosis of Generalized Anxiety Disorder! I take Clonazepam on a regularly prescribed time table and that history has helped tremendously in my knowledge of the cardiac anxiety involved! I was diagnosed as having had a “Silent Heart Attack” but I know that it was an extremely bad massive panic attack brought on by my Mother’s sudden death by a brain stem aneurysm! I lost my mind for a few hours! As would be expected! I have had several experiences since then when I was afraid I was having a heart attack but none of them were! I spoke to my longtime Psychiatrist of 30 years afterwards and he assured me that it was the Anxiety that my body was going through and that I needn’t be concerned or afraid! After my last episode even the ER Doctor told me that it was most likely a serious Panic Attack as after I was given an anti anxiety medication my symptoms disappeared and All of my Cardiac numbers went back to normal in addition to my pain and physical symptoms disappearing! I know that another heart attack is probably going to happen but it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY! I don’t have any blockages in my Cardiac Arteries! That lessens the risk by 80%! So if your nuclear test Does show something it may be an anxiety attack that happened during the test and absolutely nothing more! I implore you to find a psychiatrist who listens to you rather that talking AT you should be able to diagnose an anxiety attack and order a drug to be taken when you feel this Cardiac Anxiety! I promise it will be helpful!!!
@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member good luck with the test and I am sorry you are experiencing this kind of stress. I do hope you feel better before too much longer and if not, don't hesitate to get yourself some help. Be sure to let the doctors know how you are feeling, they might be able to help. Hugs and keep us posted on the results of the stress test. Hugs🤗❤️
