Many people experience emotional and mental health changes after a heart attack.

A heart attack can often lead to feelings of anger, fear, or sadness.

Some people will develop anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Finding support and treatment for your mental health after a heart attack can help prevent future attacks.

Hi, I was very depressed and was almost died they said. For two weeks I was incubated. When I came out of it I was depressed and had to learn how to eat better. I also had congestive heart failure at the same time. It was a nightmare for me. I was hallucinating about what had happened to me.

Throughout my life I have had numerous close calls. I bounced back with never a worry.
When I had my heart attack in 12/2022 I had PTSD for about 6 months . I relied on my faith , and family .
I am no longer afraid . I must say it was the worst experience of my life.

Anxiety> sometimes which i never had before, aggressiveness, which i was more mellow, memory loss for sure in part because of insomnia. But listen to this well known fact> Music calms the savage beast.

Hi Caryn! I know my depression was worse right after the heart attack. Fortunately, I was already seeing a mental health professional, so we worked together to help with my fears and feelings of helplessness. Never be afraid of getting help. Mental health can affect the physical!
