I am fortunate to be here. I have a stent in my LAD for 10 years. It was blocked 70% and was detected by a smart doctor. They said there is one more thing we want to check to find out why I was having the symptoms I was having. They did a cardiac catheterization and discovered that I had 70% blockage in my LAD. I haven't needed a second stent, PTL. I had never heard of a LAD or stents or cardiac catheterizations or any of that stuff. Boy was I sure in for an education. I will always be grateful that I did not have to experience the widowmaker. Being dangerously close is good enough.
I just had an angiogram (otherwise known as heart catheterization). I had both right and left side performed in one procedure. I had a 70% blockage in one of my arteries. (don't remember which one) They implanted a stent during the procedure. I had my Aortic valve replaced 15 years ago. At that time this same artery was about 40% blocked. Here is an extensive article you all may find interestinmg on heart cauterizations. https://www.whenthebeatdrops.org/content/cathet...

@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member Thanks for sharing. They described my first heart attack with this article. In 1994, the widowmaker was defined as having a heart attack without feeling any symptoms, but this definition makes sense. My first two heart attacks were this. In reading this, explains what my doctor then told me, he told me "If you hadn't taken the nitroglycerine and if you hadn't got in as soon as you did, you would not have made it.". Just goes to show, something take years for you to get the answer to a question.
A "widowmaker" heart attack is one of the most serious types of heart attacks. It gets its name because it can be fatal very quickly if not treated immediately. It occurs when the left anterior descending (LAD) artery — the main artery supplying blood to the heart — becomes completely blocked.
