I had a heart attack 2 weeks ago, and had 4 stents put in. I am schedule for multi bypass surgery in September. They told me that I should start to slowly walk after 2 weeks since the heart attack, but I just don't have the wind or the energy to walk. All I do is sleep. I'm 64 years old, and prior to the heart attack I had more energy than this. Is it normal for me to be so very tired after 2 complete weeks of total rest and sleep?
Thank you.

My a-fib started when I was 52. I had a cardioversion last March and ablation last April. I still get winded if I over do it. I can walk at a regular pace tho. But up hill or stairs is no good

Ray - I'm trying to build my strength after AF cardioversion plus I have 7 stents in the RCA. When I walk I can't breath - I know how you're feeling - it takes time and baby steps to build yourself back up. After the cardioversion I felt better than I had in years but after about 3 weeks my breathing went south again. Hang in there and keep going a little each day - eventually you'll be doing three miles. I'm 71 - the heart trouble started when I was 56 and I've found that it's an up and down battle.

I meet with my cardiologist on August 2nd, and he is the one doing the open heart surgery on me in September. So I will discuss it with him, if I feel the same way by then. Right now, I am starting to feel a little stronger, and I am lightly pushing myself to walk and be a little more active during the day, which seems to be helping me gain my strength, although, some days, I still need a nap in the afternoon, if the weather isn't pleasant outside. Thanks for your feedback, and I'll report back once I know more from the cardiologist, on what exactly they will be doing to me for the operation. Thanks again. Hope you're doing well.
Take care,
Ray.

Hsve they looked fir something else? I had horrible symptomatic a fib and finally had cryoablation about 8 years ago. Started getting short of breath last summer with sny exertion. Long story short ended up with 2 stents in LAD with another failed in Feb. Had cardioversion in june due to a flutter. Still get some shortness of breath with exertion.
Moral of this is talk to your cardiologist and tell him/ her whats going on
