swimming and exercising in pool is what is keeping me going. I am 87 I get to the gym practically every day. Good for all of you exercising, good for balance.
That's wonderful news β a walk to the kitchen for ginger tea counts as a win, and those small victories really do add up! π
Yes, exercise can absolutely help improve balance when living with heart disease. Flexibility exercises in particular are great for this. Activities like:
- Yoga
- Tai chi
- Stretching routines
Tl and IveyRose, I am with you two. I am not a swimmer. I did not have a bad experience like IveyRose (that is a really good reason to dislike water), but I sink like a dang rock in the water, and I can tell you, that is not fun if you are trying to stay above water. Land Lubber exercises for me. I am so proud of us all for doing our exercises and doing what works for us! Work on that balance; no one wants to fall.
Woo Hoo!!!! That is wonderful! Exercise will improve your balance, and that is a wonderful side effect! Balance is the first thing to go as you age. I do exercises just to improve my balance. I don't want to fall if I can help it.
Walking and exercise helps greatly as does yoga and balancing on one leg for 15 seconds even if you have to hold onto something do each leg three times while bending the other leg. Aqua yoga helps if youβre arthritis hurts really bad.
