Members shared overwhelming solidarity with someone experiencing severe shoulder, neck, and tendonitis pain from statins, with many describing their own struggles with debilitating muscle pain that made walking or moving their arms nearly impossible. Several members offered practical strategies, including switching to gentler statins like Pravastatin or Rosuvastatin, trying non-statin options like Zetia or Repatha injections, taking CoQ10 supplements, doing gentle water-based physical therapy, and using cannabis to manage pain during flare-ups. A recurring theme was the frustration of needing cholesterol medication but being unable to tolerate most statins, with many members ultimately choosing to manage their levels through careful diet and continued experimentation with alternatives until finding what works for their individual bodies.

JIM-I told the Dr I had problems with statins when I tried them years ago but then he switched to this & that ( 1 1/2 years) and I told him I was in very much pain to the point of wishing I had a bullet- and I wasn't exaggerating. Finally he put me on Zetia and Repatha. In the second year the insurance company started saying they wouldn't pay for Repatha. I fought it & won. I take the Repatha but it's a statin of sorts and stopped the Zetia due to still having problems. I have taken CoQ10 long before the statins- some say it helps. I have been in & out of PT over and over. The swimming pool at PT gave the best results. I recently started trying the Zetia every other day (been off about a year) and will see. The problem is I have the genetic (familial) kind of hyper cholesterol and need statins but they kill me. That is a unique pain isn't it? I feel for anyone dealing with it. The Repatha by itself is manageable for me so far but I am reading things that say the addition of a statin helps clear the build-up in the vessels which is why I am re-trying the Zetia. I am careful with my diet but mostly because salts bring up my blood pressure. Try the CoQ10, PT with gentle water workouts. I wish you the best. If you find anything that helps please put it on my page, I will also try it.

Hello
I used to take them until I was getting muscular pain in my legs
Couldn’t walk
So I completely stopped them
Then I tried the injections
Those didn’t work either so
I decided to stop them as well

I decided to take my own health
In my hands !
I realize that these doctors are
Concerned about lowering
My cholesterol I sincerely
Appreciate it !
I believe that these reps come
In with many samples to give
Out to their patients to try this
& that !
Not everyone can take those
Statins
I have decided to just watch what
I eat be careful
I don’t take any of those meds now
I know I should be !

Until they can find one with
Absolutely “no side”
Effects then I’ll look into in
Until then no I’m not planning
On taking any !

I took the injections many years ago for my cholesterol
I stopped them
Now I don’t take anything
Those stains I can’t take whatsoever
I just watch what I eat now
Chicken fish & salads
Low in fat dressing
