Today, I faced this dilemma. So, I wanted to listen to YouTube, but I knew I needed to exercise so of course I used YouTube as my incentive. I did my exercise and then I watched my video. What motivates you?

Members shared creative strategies for overcoming the mental hurdle of starting exercise, with music emerging as the most popular motivator, whether through playlists during walks or dancing while doing household chores. Several members described building movement into daily routines like cooking, cleaning, or watching TV, emphasizing that repetition transforms exercise from a chore into an automatic habit that keeps blood flowing even on difficult days. A recurring theme was self-compassion and finding what works personally, whether that means using entertainment as an incentive, breaking activity into small manageable moments, or simply remembering that movement helps both body and spirit.

Hi CarynWebb,
Great question, I usually workout during cooking, cleaning, traveling laying down or sitting up. I have had so many physical therapy sessions, that, I am lifting my legs, arms, riding my stationary bike, while relaxing and watching television. It has now become automatic. Yes there are times, I do not feel like moving, but I found that repetition becomes a habit, so I just keep moving at all times. Even when I am challenged with health difficulties, I know that movement helps to keep my blood flowing.

CarynWebb, I admire you for loving yourself enough to exercise. I can't seem to find the desire to actually "exercise ". If there's something that needs to be done, I will work hard to accomplish the task. I guess I need to find more tasks to do! 😉😁🤣

Bad thing is I can't exercise, I can start, but within two to three minutes, breathing is out of whack and a lot of times have chest discomfort or pain.

Thanks for asking this! I find it hard to be motivated.
