Regular physical activity, especially walking, is one of the best ways to improve heart health. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous activity weekly. If you're new to exercise, start slowly with 10-15 minutes per day and gradually increase your time and pace.

Remember to listen to your body while exercising. If you feel excessively breathless, dizzy, or notice an irregular heartbeat, stop and rest with your feet up. Call your doctor if symptoms don't improve, and seek emergency care if you experience chest pain or heart attack symptoms. Many MyHeartDiseaseTeam members have found success by pacing themselves and staying hydrated during physical activity. As one member shared, they were able to gradually increase their walking time from 15 minutes to 25 minutes by maintaining a slower, more manageable pace. The key is finding the right balance that works for your fitness level while staying within safe limits.
