I have been taking antidepressants and anxiety meds for over two decades and I Do think they help! But then I have a Bipolar 1 diagnosis along with GAD or Generalized Anxiety Disorder since my father passed away in 1997! His was a heart attack as well!

Thank you for the reply. They put me on paxil but haven't started taking them .my fear is side effects

They were treating me for "anxiety" when the unknown afib kicked in and caused a stroke, that was in 2017. They had been treating me with Xanax since 2013. I still tae it on rare occasions when the anxiety or stress rears itself. Don't have afib episodes now just anxious and "jumpy" at times.
