My Cardiologist Never Tells Me Anything. He Always Tells Me I Am Holding My Own, But What Does That Mean??
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question ๐Ÿ’ญ

I have had a heart attack, heart failure, SVT, chronic systolic heart failure. I am sure I would like to hear more than I am just holding my own. Never has he explained any of these conditions to me no matter how may times I have tried to get some understanding of them. Some help please, I am very close to being 68 soon๐Ÿ˜ฅ

If it was me I would get another doctor which I have done. Because I have done that I have a great team now. I don't put up with a lot of things but I worked in a hospital for many years and a clinic. I have worked with the best and have been a patient of the worst doctors have I ever delt with. Some behaviors are just unexceptable. Not explaining those things to you the way he should is also unexceptable. On the other hand in the defense of this doctor, sometimes they hold back because it can be a very scary thing to hear. So they try to keep from upsetting the patient (in this case you) from going through that. So the other thing you can do is when you go back to see him tell him just exactly the kind of person that you are. Like for myself I have told new doctors that I am the kind of person that has to know everything so don't leave anything out. I am also very specific in what I want. Then I ask them what kind of doctor are they and give them the chance to tell me. That way we are both either on the same page or were not. Then it leaves you open to do what ever it is you want to do. I hope this helps.

Im so sorry your going through that. My 1st cardiologist was like that. Literaly shrugged his shoulders (like so what) when I told him i had other heart issues. I was in the process of getting a new referral when he left the practice, We deserve answers. Good luck
