Primary Aldosteronism (called Also Conn’s Syndrome)
Is anybody dealing with primary aldosteronism, also called Conn's syndrome)? Because of it, I have some of my days uncontrolled hypertension, which is dangerous for my aortic aneurysm, and much heavy for my heart failure.
My first appointment with an endocrinologist ist far away in October 😵💫
And yes, my appointment is very far away, it will be 2 years since my doctor first identified that my episodes of uncontrolled hypertension could be caused by aldosteronism (and 4 years of having arterial hypertension, which is dangerous for my aneurysm of the ascending aorta). It's such a long waiting list here in my country. No earlier opening will come up.
Primary aldosteronism results from overproduction of aldosterone by the adrenal glands themselves. This hormone helps regulate the body’s balance of water and sodium (salt), blood volume and blood pressure.
In some cases, primary aldosteronism results from benign, or noncancerous, tumors in one or both adrenal glands.
Rarely, primary aldosteronism occurs because of an inherited disorder, which I probably have.
Primary aldosteronism generally causes high blood pressure with low potassium. Other symptoms could be excessive thirst, fatigue, frequent urination, headache, muscle cramps, visual disturbances and weakness or tingling.
Hi Anita. I’ve never heard of that condition. Can you share what the symptoms are? Your appointment is pretty far away, are you on a call back list, or do they offer that, when an earlier opening comes up? Wishing you a good day and luck with getting in earlier!
