First of all, I don't think it is possible to cut sodium from your diet completely because almost everything contains it including veggies. Your body does need sodium (salt) to function but not nearly as much as we usually get. According to the Harvard School for public health, "The human body requires a small amount of sodium to conduct nerve impulses, contract and relax muscles, and maintain the proper balance of water and minerals. It is estimated that we need about 500 mg of sodium daily for these vital functions." That is a super low amount and even an apple has 2-5mg of sodium depending on the size. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends adults limit sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg per day—that’s equal to about 1 teaspoon of table salt! Ask your doctors what they recommend for your specific needs. I hope this helps answer your question.
