What Is Prognosis For Diastolic Disfunction?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I've read that it gets worse with age and a life expectancy of 5 years or less. I'm 69 years old and it bothers me all the time that I was diagnosed with this debilitating condition. I never drank or smoked. I over the years had hypertension issues. Also I consider myself being healthy before my diagnosis because I worked out every day. I thought the heaviness on my chest was due to me having allergies. Looking for someone to give me some invite on my condition.

That five-year life expectancy is the worst piece of information on Google. There are thousands of people who are diagnosed with heart conditions each year. That five-year story is was down in single digit percentage less than 10% of the thousands. I was diagnosed at age 38 and a doctor told me that crap. I am now 72 and still living with class IV CHF.Google Thomas Trimble and check out my heart books.

Yes...please do not believe in statistics. They're usually wrong. Believe me I know where of I speak. If I listened to the Dr's & stats? I'd be 6ft under 5 yrs ago. Or definitely last July...or doomed this past March.
Still here..and still enjoying life!

That 5-year thing is absolute crap. Developed from a study in the early 60s. Shall we say a lot has changed. In my case, my stupid doctor told me that when I had a damaging heart attack at age 38. I got CHF from the damage it did. I am now Class IV-D kind of end of the line, but I am 72 years old.-34 years later.
