I find that if I lie down about an hour after taking the "water pill" it gives my heart help in getting the water to my kidneys
Hi @A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member. Swelling in the legs is usually due to decreased circulation. I see you had stents put in. That means that you had some difficulty with circulation to your heart. Therefore, your heart wasn't (and probably still isn't) pumping as efficient as normal. When that happens fluid cannot be brought back to the heart and it has to go somewhere - so it goes into the tissues usually of our legs because they are farthest from the heart.
Decreasing your fluid intake and your salt intake can help, as well as keeping your legs elevated. You can also see if your doctor would prescribe you with compression stockings (I have been wearing them for almost 20 years) as they help "push" the fluid back to your heart.
Of course if you are not on a water pill - that is another thing that could help. If you are - you might need the dose increased. Again, talk to your doctor. Hope this helps. Take care and God Bless.
I would encourage u to talk to your doctor my leg swelling had to do with being very over weight so I keep my legs up every night and I lost 130 lbs
I would agree with the fluid build up. I have that problem at times. Are you on Lasix? I would call your dr. to be on the safe side.
