Anyone Taking Meds For A Fib?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been prescribed Pradaxa for A Fib. I have had a few strokes that have left me numb on the left side, from toe to arm and covering half of front and half of back. Wondering if it will ever go away. Dr. prescribed Pradaxa, 150 mg. twice a day to stop the strokes. Am also on Plavix. Pradaxa turned my stools black when I took it the first time, so I stopped it. They didn't find blood in my stool, but don't know what caused it. Doctor wants me to start Pradaxa again this month and I am fearful… read more

I wouldn’t worry about your meds turning your stools black. Pepto Bishop does the same thing, and it is unnerving if you haven’t been warned in advance!

Is Taking Prodaxia Recomended For Some One That Has A Mechanical Heart Valve?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have a mechanical heart and I read that the FDA did trials and come to the conclusion that it shouldn't be taken by patients with mechanical heart valves. I had my surgery 2 years ago and I have been taking Prodaxia. Because the clinical trial said patients taking it are more likely to experience strokes, hearts attacks, and blood clots forming on the mechanical heart valves I called my heart doctor and the nurse got back to me and said she would contact the doctor and ask him about weather I… read more

PCSK9 Drugs, Repatha/Praluent
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi,
I have been taking the new class of pcsk9 drugs for over a year now, along with a statin, and over the past 9-10 months have experienced chronic tingling in my fingers, reduced circulation in my fingers and feet, and a degree of chronic numbness in the bottom front of my feet, including some of my toes. Anyone else on these drugs and experiencing the same symptoms? If so, what have you done?

Warfarin AND Aspirin?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I do not wish to question my Cardiologist who has prescribed Warfarin 5mg nocte AND Aspirin 100mg mornings. When I read up on search results, everyone is anti the concommitant use of both, due to possible excessive bleeding. I am prone to cuts and cat scratches, as well as bumps & bruising. I also have thromboses in a left ventricular aneurysm that could break off & cause a stroke. Question: Is it "safe" to proceed with my Cardiologist's prescription, or do I need a second opinion? I have so far… read more
