Members rallied around someone experiencing shortness of breath and difficulty sleeping flat, offering both emotional encouragement and helpful practical tips. Several members shared their own experiences with similar symptoms, noting that the cause can be heart-related, pulmonary, or both, and strongly encouraged seeking medical advice from a doctor or nurse rather than waiting. A recurring theme was adapting daily routines by using wedge pillows for sleep, doing tasks in cooler morning hours, pacing oneself, and staying hydrated, all paired with warm reminders that rest is not giving up.

I have to remind myself: There is nothing so important to do today that it can’t be left until tomorrow! Especially in this heat. You’re important, it is not!

Pam it is not always a heart problem or maybe I should say not solely a heart problem, but could be pulmonary as well. It's not a great combination either way. Be sure and talk to your doctor about it. I had a lot of shortnes of breath and kept complaining and my cardio man said not the heart so I went along to pulmonary only to be told that I have asthma/copd and was put on an inhaler. If it keeps being a problem it warrants further investigation. Good luck and feel better soon!😊

Hi PAm, I’m a so sorry you are experiencing this shortness of breath. It can be very frightening for sure. But you received some good advice before this and please take it seriously. I just got home from the hospital yesterday and the last thing you want to hear is that you might have to go to the ER!! But please call your advisory nurse or the ER and explain how you are feeling. Do not take this lightly. I’m in Urbana and we are having the same heat wave as you and this heat is breathtaking! Please take care of yourself. Prop a pillow under your head to lift it up, prop your feet up and stay hydrated. Let us know how you are doing. We care about you and want the best for you. God bless
