How are you feeling three days after your TAVR procedure?

It's completely normal not to feel better yet at just three days post-TAVR. Your body needs time to heal from the procedure, even though it's less invasive than open-heart surgery.

During the first few days and weeks after TAVR, your body is adjusting to the new valve and recovering from the procedure itself. Many people don't notice immediate improvement in how they feel. The healing process takes time, and you'll likely have restrictions on physical activity during this early phase.

Here's what's typical in the first week:

- You'll need to rest and avoid lifting anything over 10 pounds
- Light activity only - no strenuous chores or exercise
- Your incision site needs time to heal
- Your body is adjusting to any new medications

Most people can return to their normal routine within about two weeks, but everyone's recovery timeline is different. You should gradually start feeling stronger as the weeks go by.

If you're experiencing concerning symptoms like persistent chest pain, difficulty breathing, severe swelling, fever, or signs of infection at your incision site, contact your doctor right away.

Give yourself grace during this early recovery period. Three days is still very early, and improvement often comes gradually rather than all at once.

I had a TAVR valve put in 4/2024. I have had 2 open heart surgeries for aorta valve in the past. I can say I had better results with those than the TAVR valve. I now have a dissection of the aorta in the aorta arch from it. I was told I would feel the difference right away and that didn’t happen. Wish you luck.
