My family was from adores. Machado is a name that was carried on by the families. All the boys in my family including my dad and his father, along with grandfather's middle name was machado. The likely hood od this person being the one who discovered it being related to me could be high. In books I read about this disease it specifically stated it was in the family genes. I hope you are right. My father and his father died with this illness. Thank you for responding

Unlike many other medical conditions, Machado–Joseph disease is not named after researchers. It is named after two men ("William Machado" and "Antone Joseph") who were the patriarchs of the families in which the condition was initially described.[20] The highest prevalence of the condition is on Australia's Groote Eylandt where 5% of the population are currently symptomatic or at risk,[21] followed by the Azorean island of Flores where around 1 in 140 individuals in the population are diagnosed with MJD.[

I have always heard that CAD is hereditary. Whether that is actually true or not, I can not say, but I do feel at least the propensity for it is passed down from parents to children. Life styles are learned from the parents, how to cook is usually learned from the parents.
