Ok i am still medicated also with my mitral clip. I was more concerned about my grandaughter was just diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse and per cardiologist didnt require the pre medication so i was just trying to educate on changes to this procedure thanks Caryn

Paula, I think it depends on the cardiologist. Mine insist that I take 2 Clindamycin before any dental procedure. It is to protect my tricuspid valve that has not been repaired (Known as Ebstiens anomaly). Not everyone has to do this but my dentist(s) defer to my cardiologists. I am guessing it depends. Unless I am having major surgery I don't stop the Eiliquis (blood thinner).

My dentist said not necessary even for my recent root canall. If bleeding an issue would wean me off blood thinner temporarily
