I have a mechanical heart and I read that the FDA did trials and come to the conclusion that it shouldn't be taken by patients with mechanical heart valves. I had my surgery 2 years ago and I have been taking Prodaxia. Because the clinical trial said patients taking it are more likely to experience strokes, hearts attacks, and blood clots forming on the mechanical heart valves I called my heart doctor and the nurse got back to me and said she would contact the doctor and ask him about weather Iā€¦ read more

As far as I am aware warfarin is the correct blood thinner for mechanical valves.

I was put on warfarin years ago before I started Prodaxia which I have been taking since 2010 and I had to be taken off it because I kept getting a bloody nose. I just hope there is something I can take besides Prodaxia
