I used to be a dressage horse rider. I once took a lesson with a big name trainer. He would not give lessons to riders with a high bmi. My bmi was ideal, but i lost all respect for him. I took my horse money elsewhere.

Cliff, I hate that BMI measure. I am designated as slightly obese and I weigh 166 lbs. I do have body fat in the middle which is a health risk for sure. Thanks for sharing the article I think BMI can be helpful in some instances as the article points out but I never realized the impact it might have on eating disorders. Once again thanks for taking the time to share this and I hope others will take the time to read the article. 🤗

Cliff3, The ONLY useful thing about BMI is that is measures everyone by the same standard. It is non-judgmental and rather useless at the same time. It simplistically affixes a number to you based on height and weight. Muscle ways more than non-muscle and if you have a dozen screws in your back, large and smaller replacement knees and screws in your shoulder, it sort makes the number useless. 😎

An addendum if you will. I have a classic beer belly which didn't present until after arthroscopic prostate surgery and months of lifting my body weight after about 6 plus months in leg immobilizers after 5 knee surgeries. 😎
