When one is diagnosed and told there will be surgery, not if...but when is the question.
I have had my mitral valve repaired 2xs first in 2000 done by open heart and second 2022 they did the mitral clip 3 of them put in. I was left with horrible afib I am going to the Cleveland clinic for ablation and medication fix for the afib in august.
I do indeed. I am happy to wait for the surgery. The mere thought of open-heart surgery is scary and it will be open-heart. My cardiologist already informed me. Also, I am in no hurry to start taking Warfarin either. That said, I also do not want to undergo the surgery in my 70's or 80's.
Do you understand the value of waiting rather than getting it over with?
No not yet. I see my cardiologist every year so he can measure the pressure in my lungs to determine if he needs to do surgery. It is a question of time. He already informed me that it will be a mechanical valve replacement. Last year he was still satisfied with my lung pressure. I will see what he says the end of this year. However my regurgitation is severe and not moderate. :-)
