I love cardiac rehab! Where I go there are 2-3 physiologists and one is always an RN. It is in a gym and other patients may be there exercising when you are, but we don’t exercise together. We do treadmill, arm crank and recumbent elliptical. The goal from the beginning is to exercise for a full 40 minutes. Never more than that. My first session after my open heart surgery I couldn’t walk on the treadmill more than a speed of 1.7 for 10 minutes. By my 4th session I had it up to 2.5 for 20 min which is the max time allowed on the treadmill. Arm crank is always 5 min and the elliptical is always 15 for a total of 40 minutes. They don’t push you. They allow you to go at your own pace. BP’s are recorded before, during and after. Small heart monitor that can clip onto your pants or fit in your pocket with leads on your chest. They monitor you the entire time you’re there I’ve attended 14 sessions so far but had to take a few weeks off due to getting my icd 2 weeks ago. I miss it. My treadmill is up to speed of 3.3 and now we’ll start increasing the incline. The other machines we will increase the tension as I’m ready. I highly recommend everyone attend. It helps to heal you and makes you feel amazing. Hope that helps! 😊

There were 3-4 RN nurses and 1 physiologist, teaching my class of 6-8 patients. They had developed a structured exercise program for the cardiac patients. You came in at a base beginner level and you increased your exercises based on what you thought you could do. We had our weight and blood pressure recorded at the beginning of each session Also we were asked to wear heart monitors in case we experienced high blood pressures, change in EKG, or heart beats per minute. I was afraid to try to exercise for an hour after my triple bypass, but we were allowed to stop and rest or, leave for the day. I went M,W,F from 1-2PM. I was very tired at the end of the first week, but as I exercised my body and my heart got stronger. By the time I "graduated" completing 36 sessions, I enjoyed participating in the program. My echo fraction has improved from 20% to 40% because of my bypass surgery in April and my exercising. I am so thankful. God Bless.

I sure like the the cardiac Rehab programs you all have. Mine is a phone call once a month checking on how I'm doing. They want to make sure I'm experiencing and eating right. They may ask for my BP reading once in a while. I would love it they .monitored my heart like they fo in your all program. I guess it rather my insurance or Calif Calif covid regs. Thank you all for you feed back. It was very helpful. Have a great day.

Someone mentioned Water exercise! What a great idea! We have a gym just a few miles down the street from us that has an Indoor warmed Jr Olympic size Pool! I talked with my Doctors(all of them) and they gave me the okay to join the pool!!!! But not until I can drive after my shoulder surgery about 6 weeks so I’ll be hopping in that pool come mid to late February! I’m so excited! Thanks to all of you who’ve brainstormed this problem with me!!! God Bless you All!❤️❤️❤️❤️
