Anybody Had This Problem
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I had a stent put in 02/2/22 I noticed swelling in my whole left leg after coming home, they went through my wrist not my leg for the procedure. It is not pitting edema, I told my cardiologist and the did the ultrasound for blood clots and it was negative. Has anyone else had this issue after a stent? Or does anyone know what may be causing it? Could it be that I'm allergic to silver? I appreciate any comments
Thank you

hows your A1c? your cholesterol, There are any number of potential issues related to the arterial side as well as the venous side of the Lower Vascular extremities , imagine if an Increased blood flow( due to a wide open stent allowed for just a little chunk or cholesterol goop to break off and flow down, Blocking an artery lower in your legs . the Illiac artery into the femoral artery is about the size around of a finger by the time the arteries reach the bottom the capillaries can easily be blocked , so DON'T ignore the issue, if you have diabetes or pre diabetis you can also have similar blood flow issues and neuropathy if its not cleared up by now seriously consider seeing a Cardiovascular specialist, and hopefully someone who your cardiologist can accept and work with did or do you have any speckling of the skin in the area or Actual Color variations ( like a pair of reddish socks? while it might not be acting like Pitting edema, it still could have similar origins .... I suffered an Aortic rupture and they found I had secondary Aneurysms in both Popliteal arteries, The Aorta was fixed they wanted to operate on the right Popliteal while i was in hospital I think they might have killed me..... 12 years ago... I'd had One surgery that required 136 staples to close the leg after bypassing the aneurysm, and 3 years after that my next cardio vascular surgeon opened behind the knee and restored more blood flow here we are in 2022, and the right side of my calf lower near the ankle has a knot smaller then a baseball that puffs up, if I walk but dont wear compression hose makes me think of Blood clots and other scary things But before one gets crazy one needs to have imaging and a professional access the situation... I would suggest asking about compression hose, and a referal to a cardio Vascular specialst prefer one in a decent Heart and Vascular group hospital or program opr a teaching Hospital while turn over can be frustrating the academic teaching style hospitals tend to know and take care of you better with some of these wacky issues

Iā€™m not sure this would be what you are experiencing but I had severe swelling in my right leg two days after a getting a stent. In my situation the heart cath was through my groin on my right side. What happened was that I developed a pseudoanuerism at the entry point of the cath. So with a pseudoanuerism the vein does not clot and blood continues to leak. So it was leaking in my leg and then compressed the femoral vein and caused the swelling in my right leg. The ultrasound made it look like I had a DVT so the doctors went back in my leg through back of my knee with a clottriever to get the clot but there was none

Again not sure if this is your issue but something to bring up and talk to your doctor about. Apparently what happened to me is a fairly rare occurrence so it may not be something most doctors have seen

Hope you find or have found a solution
