Judy, that is a good thing! Now you have some protection in case you Heart stops pumping.
I know it hard not to be scared, but try to live your life. I was more scared before my implant. Yes, it can go off and shock us but is saving our lives. Its like we have a paramedic inside us to protect us.
Now hopefully the medicine can improve your EF and you will start to feel better. Start walking when doc oks it. Cardiac rehab can help too if doc approves.

14% is low EF. You can expect a cardiologist is going to add couple heart meds to improve you EF. Most will want you to wearer life vest for 3 months to see if EF goes up. If not they probably recommend implant ICD. This was my path anyway. Just take one step at a time.

Judy have you checked with your health insurance to see if they will let you have a nurse assistant come to your for a few hours a day to help you with cooking & cleaning , & your doctor can sign off for you to take cardiac rehab classes if it is rite for you, I took the class & it was fun and educational.when you get a chance check into it

I have a watchman device implanted in my my heart and a loop recorder implanted in my chest. My heart is also enlarged and hardening on the left side. I am still trying to get all the answers. I'm sorry I still don't have a lot of answers for you ( yet) But I go to the University of Colorado cardiologist next week and they will give me more answers I will gladly share with you. I know it is very scary and I feel your fear. And I know it probably feels as if you had just ran a marathon, I feel the same . God Bless you and please don't worry. I'll get you some information.
