I had a heart attack almost four years ago. (I didn't know I had it). I went to the E.R. because I kept having problems breathing during the night. After the Doctor ask me questions and we put two and two together so that I knew exactly when I had it (ex stream heart burn). I always have heart burn so now I question if I will know if I have another heart attack and will it feel the same? Women can have so many crazy symptoms having a heart attack that I'm not sure what to look for.
Great question, I have reflux or GERD and before my heart attack I was thinking it was all reflux I was feeling, the only difference was when I couldn't control the reflux with my usual remedies. like milk or maalox or eating something. The symptoms I had during my heart attack were reflux, plus radiation of the pain into my left arm/elbow a classic sign. Two weeks prior I had dull pain in my left jaw also. I also had the classic symptom of denial which could have killed me if I hadn't decided to call the paramedics.
My heart attack started with my left hand hurting, then travelling up my left arm, going under my breast around my back to my left shoulder, up my neck to my jaw on the left side. It was the very worse pain I ever had in my 78 years! All I was doing was making my bed. I don't know how to de-stress. If I do things too slow it bugs me, and I look around and can see things that need doing and it makes me more anxious. If I do too much I get weak and my legs shake like I had an electrical shock. I also made things worse by not wanting to go to the hospital because of covid-19. I was going to sit on the side of my bed with my boyfriend sitting near me. I didn't want to die alone...altho we all do die alone. But the pain was so severe I couldn't stand it, so I went to the hospital in an ambulance. I couldn't make it to the hospital of my choice, but God was with me because the hospital I went to was great for heart attacks. I feel fine now after I had a widow maker, even tho I am female. I feel great riding my trike on good days, I go 6 miles now, 3 miles on the bike path out and 3 miles back. I love it. I feel so free! I love saying good morning to everyone I pass, or hello if it's past morning, no set time, but I love it. Now the cold weather is upon us and I have to find a new way to exercise. I can't walk, so that is not an option. I am already dreaming of spring and Christmas hasn't come yet. lol. God willing I will get to spring, and I will find another way to exercise till then. I do not want to have another heart attack or another A-fib event that was just as painful. My doctor said I will have another a-Fib event, and that scares me. So far everything is working fine. Sorry about being so wordy. It's just stress is always there for me. Oh, BTW, I am a big baby too, lol. Have a great day and stay healthy.
My second heart attack symptoms were different from my first and third. If you feel something is wrong, my best advice is get it checked out. Praying for you.
my heart dissection ( form of a heart attack) started like indigestion symptom, while watching tv; I got up took some meds for indigestion, and after about 30 min. both arms started to feel weak, and felt like a squeezing of an orange lightly in center of chest, along with sweating started. I call paramedic. The paramedic done an ekg and said I was having a heart attack and quickly gave me an aspirin to slow the attack. I was told by Drs, that I should be glad I came when I did. I still got some damage to my heart with low EF. A woman's heart attack symptom can be different. Know your body and act accordingly. My life journey changed in a big way that day and now I am on a different journey, with God leading.
