I have a pacemaker and take diuretics for fluid retention. I take a multi-vitamin which contains 100% of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of iodine from kelp along with Levothyroxine for my thyroid. My Dr says, chicken fish and turkey, no canned fruits or vegetables. I cook from scratch so can control more of that
There are salt substitutes in your local supermarket, I cant even tell the difference. Watch for salt(sodium) in processed foods.
Strange.  I would think that fluid intake should be decreased.  Oh well, live and learn.

I have to watch sodium, and my cardiologist said drinking more water, will keep my feet from swelling. Hope this helps.
