The Feeling Of Water Running Down You
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

A hard one to fully explain and to me sounds weird.
I often feel like i have something wet running down over my chest. I check just incase my wound has leaked or something as the did happen about a week after operation but never anything.
My father in law used to mention about water after he found out about his first heart attack but everyone else i know that has had either bypass or heart attack has never felt it. Sometimes think im going mad

I have not had surgery so I cannot comment on your specific sensations, however since my heart failure has been stabilised, I do get some odd feelings, tingling sensation running down my back or down my legs, along with a host of aches, which aren't bad just annoying, though some joint pains are a bit of a pain (literally). Over the past two years I have grown to accept them as normal, and carried on as best as I can. Almost normal just slower. P.S. Wife says I have never been normal!

Hey Phil. That is an interesting question. By reading your comments you must have had an open chest surgery. If that is the case, and it wasn't that long ago, there is a pretty good likelihood that the nerves that were cut during the surgery are "waking up" after being "shocked" by being cut. Also some of the smaller nerves may even be starting to "grow back" together. When nerves start "firing" again, any number of feelings can result. If that is the case, then the feelings you have are probably coming from the incision line and those nerves. But making sure you specifically ask your doctor (especially if you can ask the surgeon) about those feelings, just to make sure it isn't something else. Hope this helps, but do make sure you ask the doctors that specific question (if you already haven't). God Bless.
