Members shared widely varied experiences with stent longevity in response to questions about how long they last and whether they can collapse, with some reporting stents lasting 20 to 30 years or more while others experienced blockages requiring new stents within months or a few years. Many community members described having multiple stents placed over time, with some needing stents placed inside earlier ones when blockages recurred, and several eventually requiring bypass surgery when stents could no longer be used. A recurring theme was that stent durability depends heavily on individual factors like lifestyle choices, medication adherence, overall heart health, and underlying conditions, with members emphasizing the importance of regular monitoring, eating well, staying active, and taking prescribed blood thinners to maximize stent lifespan.
