My Fit bit watch informed me when Afib started then to ongoing daily occurrences. I was looking at Ablation when I first went to the doc but would have tried a cardio version. I wasn't a candidate for CV but the Ablation was sucessful. Tomorrow will be 2 years Afib and drug free.

The best treatment for AFib typically involves a combination of approaches focused on two main goals: resetting the heart's rhythm and preventing blood clots. Treatment plans are personalized by cardiologists based on individual patient needs.

Common treatments include cardioversion (using drugs or electrical shocks to reset heart rhythm), medications like blood thinners (anticoagulants), and anti-arrhythmic drugs. Blood thinners such as warfarin, dabigatran, and rivaroxaban help prevent dangerous blood clots. For some patients, surgical procedures like ablation may be recommended. During ablation, doctors create small scars on heart tissue to block problematic electrical signals causing irregular heartbeats. This minimally invasive procedure is done through a catheter inserted in the groin.

Additionally, lifestyle changes play an important role in managing AFib. These include maintaining a heart-healthy diet, getting regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding smoking, and limiting alcohol and caffeine intake.
