Yes, there are key differences between atrial fibrillation (AFib) and atrial flutter. While both are types of abnormal heart rhythms, AFib causes the top chambers of the heart to beat irregularly at up to 350 times per minute. Atrial flutter, however, creates a rapid but regular heartbeat, typically between 250-350 beats per minute. Both conditions share common symptoms including lightheadedness, fainting, heart palpitations, fatigue, shortness of breath, and chest pain. Doctors can distinguish between the two conditions using an ECG - atrial flutter shows regular intervals between heartbeats, while AFib shows irregular spacing between beats. Treatment options are similar for both conditions and may include electrical cardioversion (using low-energy shocks to restart normal heart rhythm), catheter ablation, or in some cases, a pacemaker or implantable cardioverter defibrillator. A cardiologist can help determine the best treatment approach for each individual case.

@A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member I am probably going to have a AV node ablation and since I have Aflutter I am hoping that I won't feel it after that ablation but then again, I just might. Always an adventure my friend. 😉
