I have phlebitis in my legs awful clots happen off and on usually a clot is hot to the touch and will involve the area surrounding the vein not just the vein itself. I take aspirin, elevate the leg and use a heating pad with a damp washcloth under it because that's what I was told to do by my Drs, also Tylenol to help with the pain. However if it worries you I would contact your Dr to get it checked out if its suspected to be a clot your Dr will order an ultrasound of the leg
