Is Anyone Dealing With Congestive Heart Failure And CKD?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello. I am 70 years old and in stage 4 CKD with congestive heart failure. It looks like I may be going on dialysis soon. Anyone out there dealing with a situation like mine? Just wondering how you are coping. Thank you for your help.

I have CHF with reduced EF of 20 and CKD stage 3A and its stable . It hopefully be a while before dialysis is required for me. What is your question or concern?

I have been diagnosed with CHF and stage 3 CKD. My doctors seem totally unconcerned with the CKD, and I have taken it upon myself to do research and adjust my diet accordingly. It’s beneficial to both conditions to reduce sodium intake, so I try to keep mine under 2000 mg a day. I’ve also greatly reduced my caffeine intake. I was seriously addicted to Diet Coke, and I cut these out completely. Now I drink either plain water or sparkling water with no artificial sweeteners, caffeine or sodium. Bubbly and LaCroix are my favorites so far.
