Is My Dr Right
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

My water weight is going up alot latly. Questioning my Dr about the water weight issues should i b concerned? She just said weight is hard to loose n b patient. I'm doing the right things. But she put me on water pills n said I should loose a couple lbs a day. Now it's like it's not inportant. I'm so confused. I thought water weight was bad with chf? Should I look for a specialist? Am back to where I was before the water pills.

My heart failure specialist is even more specific than than the responses above. He has me weigh daily
and call his office if I gain three pounds over three days or five pounds in five days. This way he can closely monitor my water retention and adjust my water pill dosage. He also had me have a cardio MEMS unit inserted that gives him daily readings of the fluids in my body since I am not a person who shows fluid in ankles like alot of people. Stay in touch with your Dr .

I have to weigh myself everyday. If I weigh the correct weight which is usually 168 but I will say 170. If I weigh 5 pounds over that weight that usually means I am retaining fluid but you need to get a second opinion because I had a heart attack when I was 30. After that I have to watch what I eat and weigh myself every morning when I get up. I hope that this helps you. And I am glad to have met you.

Do you weight yourself everyday ? She needs to know how much per day you’re gaining . That will tell the amount of fluid you’re retaining and if she should increase your diaretics ! Hope that helps 💗
