I hear about all these side effects you guys are talking about but as of yet I have not experienced Any! Could it be that I am a tough old bird? As far. As Eliquis is concerned I have noticed a slight cough from time to time but it seems like an acceptable trade off knowing that the Eliquis iss dissolving the blood clots in my ankle! Dr. Said I would only be on it for 3 months!

CarynWebb, I was diagnosed with left ventricular A-Fib a couple years ago. I had no symptoms, felt fine and after a year saw a cardiology practice and a DOCTOR immediately put on a blood thinner, Eliquis, low dose and I begged a change since the side affects were horrible! Zarelto was an improvement but not by much. ANOTHER heart Doctor put me on Carvedilol and on another visit I scored Losartan thanks to a Nurse Practitioner. I have all the adverse side affects from all these "medications" and have DC, discontinued them for many days on my own but always start again from time to time. I bought a KardiaMobile and my sinus rhythm has always been normal, my blood pressure is ALWAYS in the 120/80 range or lower. Heart rate low 80s. I am 70 years of age and have lot's of experience regarding the medical field, senior health concerns and the big business it is. I have an appointment tomorrow for an MRI relating to an inconclusive CT scan, relating to an inconclusive X-Ray relating to a broken rib from a fall which was related to the side affects of the heart medications in my opinion. Prove me wrong?

Jim,

Sorry to hear about your doctors. I am fortunate that my recent visit for AFIB RVR resulted in ditching my beta blocker and now on an anti-arrhythmic medication Dofetilide and just scheduled for an ablation in October. I did a lot of reading up on AFIB and it seems they are following the path recommended for my type of AFIB. Pharmacology and if that doesn't work then minimally invasive ablation. They took CT scan and will also do an echocardiogram to be fitted for either amulet or watchman (to get me off of blood thinners. The last thing that I read is none of the former works than the latter (pacemaker and defibrillator.) Other than that not much else to keep me around.

That’s a damn shame Jim! I’m so sorry! It seems to me that your Dr’s would want to keep a closer eye on you!

Jim, I am sorry you have so many side effects from the medication. I am one of the lucky ones. I have been on Eliquis for years now and have no side effects. I take Losartan and again, no side effects, a beta blocker...As I said, I am one of the lucky ones. I hope your choices work out for you and I support your decision to live your life your way.
