Warfarin AND Aspirin?
A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I do not wish to question my Cardiologist who has prescribed Warfarin 5mg nocte AND Aspirin 100mg mornings. When I read up on search results, everyone is anti the concommitant use of both, due to possible excessive bleeding. I am prone to cuts and cat scratches, as well as bumps & bruising. I also have thromboses in a left ventricular aneurysm that could break off & cause a stroke. Question: Is it "safe" to proceed with my Cardiologist's prescription, or do I need a second opinion? I have so far… read more

You are asking for a second opinion here. We all care but might not be the most qualified. On the other hand I got better direction from Dr FitBit and Dr Google than my first cardiologist. I am now well and confident with my doctors.

This is your life and you have to take an active and courageous part in it. Directly ask your Cardiologist about any concerns you may have. We're way past the point of being either afraid or timid regarding our life. Asking questions is not a sign of disrespect but rather showing you trust them enough to listen to their explanation for their decisions. Most likely you will find that they are aware of underlying issues or possible issues that had not yet risen to the point of needed discussion and/or you may be availing them to information they were not fully cognizant of. You do yourself no favors by not being totally open and honest with all of your medical professionals.

Why don't you respectfully question the Cardiologist? Doctors aren't God. An MD even told me so. Good you are doing your own research. Consider your doctors experienced advisors and remember all decisions are yours and yours alone. Don't like a doctor? Change doctors.

I have an appointment scheduled with Cardiologist in October. Cannot discuss anything with my PCP except what she wants to hear. Not to worry, I am changing doctors here in a few days. After all these years, I have had enough.

My Cardiologist prescribed 81 mg of aspirin. And that was it. But if I were you I would get a second opinion.
