Does anyone have to check there inr weekly and are on warfarin? How does it make you feel the majority of the time, when your levels are high how do you get them back down and steady?
When I first started doing my inr in the beginning it was good and steady buy the last two times I've been in to check I have had like a 6. It's high and I'm worried I might have to go in to hospital because I can't do shots in my belly
What is TIA?
Hi Deitra hope well, A transient ischaemic attack (TIA) or "mini stroke" is caused by a temporary disruption in the blood supply to part of the brain. The disruption in blood supply results in a lack of oxygen to the brain.
Transient Ischemic Attack. It is typically a catch all diagnosis when the physician(s) can not find a direct cause for a cardiac episode. In my case I had a stroke, the clot showed on the ct scan but they couldn't find the cause of the clot and used the tia as a discharge diagnosis. After a multitude of test and a 30 day cardiac episode monitor they diagnosed me with a fib. As to your question on the inr, the way they set dosages of warfarin is by a pt/inr blood test which measures the clotting time of the blood sample being tested. They put me on Eliquis when I had my stroke which does not require blood testing. Really just more of a physician's preference and cost, warfarin is like #10 a month, Eliquis is $485 but I've got excellent medical insurance.
