Erika, I am on Eiliquis (blood thinner) and I have been losing weight by reducing changing the number of carbs I eat. No white bread or white rice. No french fries or fried food. or desserts. I eat sweet potatoes, lots of fruit, and veggies (no butter or salt just a little lemon or herbs). I eat salads before almost every meal (2 cups) with vinegar and olive oil-based dressing or lemon dressing which I make myself so it has no calories. There are veggies you can eat even if you can't have spinach or veggies high in vitamin K. You can get some no-calorie prepared dressings. Walden farms have several kinds and just you can get them online at Amazon. and I reduced the size of my portions, I eat 1 or two snacks a day usually a 1/4 cup of nuts. There are online guides to portion control just google it or use this rule of thumb. Half the plate should be veggies. The other half is divided between carbs and protein. You can use your hand to judge too. Protein servings should be the size of your palm, veggies the size of your fist, carbs the size of your hand cupped, and fats the size of your thumb. Download this pdf to help. So far, I have lost 12 pounds at about 2 lbs a week. I don't feel deprived and I am happy with this way of eating. https://www.mtsac.edu/wellness/pdf/nutrition/po... Good luck and I am sending you Hugs🤗

I have a cardio appointment coming up. I see a PA and have a feeling she’s going to blow it off, but this time I’m pushing back. I have photos of some of my worst, the whole leg black and blue from knee to ankle. Tell me that’s normal! Will keep you posted. I’ll try to remember Pradaxa to throw out there. Thanks Caryn!

Hello, am on blood thinners too. Do you bruise really easily? Sometimes I look like I was beaten up.
Have a good day…..

Reading team experiences with different anticoagulants has given me perspective. Jim, beer in Cape Town beer is an over the counter "medication". No script needed 🤣
I am currently on Xarelto and bar from the high price have not had bad bleeding or severe bruising. The exception is when I venesect (give blood) to control my iron or ferritin levels. Sometimes it can take up to 45 minutes to stem bleeding from the needle which is quite large. Lol the nurses say I am their fastest donor and fill the 1 pint blood bag in 5 minutes and 20 seconds. They tell me it is not a race. Negliable brusing. I have also had 5 COVID 19 vaccinations / booster shots without any bleeding. So to close off I am very happy taking Xarelto. Have an awesome weekend.
