I am seeking a cardiologist of generally positive outlook toward prospects of healing of congestive heart failure (especially where that healing has already taken place -- so maintenance, more than anything else) in the area North of Atlanta, GA. Three years ago, I had a dilated cardiomyopathy crisis, following a 7 week battle with a virus, and my ejection fraction was no more than 20% just after my lowest point. What beset me seems similar to symptoms and conditions being reported for COVID… read more
Soooo, I went over to the Monday office of the cardi I'd been told my case would be passed over to, Dr. Santos, in person Monday morning of this week, as that office is very nearby. His front desk staffer was very pleased to plug me into a cancellation later in the morning. However, when I was taken back of the front counter, his nurse was really quite alarmed and confused as to just WHY I was there. Santos wasn't quite as uncertain. I explained I simply took the front desk staffer's suggestion that I could gain an initial consultation. My blood work from the visit was expected to be just terrible. The doctor told me that point blank. However, by late that day said results showed up in MyChart, so that I could see them. They weren't just terrible, for in two months time, I'd brought my LDL from 100 to 75, and decreased my triglycerides by 18 points. My glucose was also 3 points lower. Yesterday morning, his nurse called and set up an appointment for December 11th, 2023. I have understood that when the cardi no longer insists upon seeing one more than once per year, it is about as good as it gets, ... so perhaps I have accomplished my mission, ... even if I'm still regarded as some sort of a weirdo, at least there is tacit messaging that I am a relatively well weirdo:)
Sooner or later, even those who've never had a bout of congestive heart failure ALL indeed worsen, 'tis the way of all mortal flesh, and dust returns to dust. I've not yet returned even to my crisis state, and hope and work not to so do for many years. For it to be whatever it is, or may be, is very likely GREAT for business in cardiology practices, ... but if their prognostication is indeed so very certain, I'm really not quite getting why they don't just let nature take its course instead of helping it along so quickly by mostly telling their patients they're all doomed all of the time. Dying presumably finishes the process at some point of relief for patients, ... but I can envision the business of getting paid to convince folks to die and die more quickly rolling on for decades and decades (I suspect a lot of cardiologists can and do envision it that way as well). I hope and pray that you are soon feeling VERY much better and definitely that you are going forward, and forgetting that there might even be a reverse gear around somewhere!!!
I wish you well & will keep you in my prayers! I've been in the care of the best with my heart failure but feel like I'm going backwards lately. Some peeps say I should get other opinions but the condition is known to worsen not get better so is what it is I guess
Sorry, I'm in Texas, most southern tip of Texas.
