Did you know? The heart-healthy Mediterranean Diet ranks #1 out of diets and this is its 7th year! I prefer to be a vegetarian/vegan but once a week I will eat fish such as salmon and include fresh herbs like thyme, spices like pepper, and fresh salmon. As I write it bakes. As the author of the popular Healing Powers series -- based on this diet -- I recommend the diet. I have stayed lean, never hungry, and you get a nice balance of superfoods.

Adding beets to your diet can help promote better heart health. Talk with your Dr and if you haven't yet try talking to a dietician about foods to help heart health.
Curcumin and garlic are also foods that can be added to help reduce inflammation and lower Blood pressure. Just ask your Dr first if your on anticoagulants and or BP meds.

While all the recipes may not be to your liking, and the article focuses on gut health as well (we learned on Monday how the gut and the heart are tied together). I think there might be one or two worth considering. The advice they give on Foods to focus on is worth a look. Remember if you are on a low salt diet and most of us are leave out the salt or at least reduce it by 1/2 or more.
