A Cardiac cough can be caused by many things. Medications are one of the reasons. Building up fluid in the lungs is another reason. Talk to the doctor about your cough. Is it a wet cough or a dry cough and is it a new symptom or has it been going on for a while does it only happen when you lie down or is it constant all of this information will help the doctor to figure out the reason for your coughing.

Right after being released from the hospital I developed a cough. I found that the ace inhibitor (blood pressure med) could cause this. The NP prescribed a different on med. The cough isnโ€™t completely gone but it mostly is.
Odd that a lot of the meds side effects mimic heart failure symptoms. Coughing, chest pains, dizziness, and shortness of breath to name a few, are all known side effects. Of course not everyone experiences some or all of the side effects just us โ€œluckyโ€ few.

I agree completely it is probably the ace inhibitors. I have been diagnosed with heart failure since 2004. I have gone through the gambit of all of the heart medicines. The ace inhibitors make me cough so much that I have been designated as allergic to them.
Be sure you talk to your doctor about your cough. Donโ€™t be afraid to speak up for yourself. You should not be coughing at all. Aloha Ke Akua,

I was on a blood pressure medicine that one of the known side affects was a dry cough. My cardiologist switched it out and no problems since then.

My sister had a cough for years thinking it was allergies only to discover that heart disease can bring on a cough. She is recently diagnosed CHF. She also had a mitral valve clip surgery and defib put in and she is doing good. Get the cough checked out.
