A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can anyone tell me about pacemaker insertion. The process, hospital time, pain involved, etc. any info will be appreciated. It is the next step if I have another AFib episode. Thank you. ❤️❤️

I received a pacemaker in May. The hospital time is usually over night. For me on the pain scale a six or seven. It still burns when I touch it.

had my pacer inserted 2019 for bradycardia ( very slow heart rate of 30 b/m) it was for me a painful experience especially after the fact as the pacer kept stinging like a short circuit, not a defib pacer. contacted my cardiologist he said it was nothing and if it continued to call or go to the hospital . i did they didnt do anything this went on for about 3 month. finally it stopped stinging.... turns out the brady cardia based on the researches in the annals of various medical research sites told me that my slow pacer was a direct result of my hypothyroid not being under proper control. if you need it then get it .. just make sure that you really do. if you have afib then you very well may need it . there are some that are able to control most of their heart erythema issues by diet and supplements. but if you are not extremely well versed and don't have a naturopathic dr. then do as they recommend, just be sure to ask as many questions as possible and confirm that you absolutely need it.

I welcomed my first pacemaker summer of 2004! I love my engine! I was overnight in the hospital. I felt so much better that I had restrain myself! I wasn’t supposed to drive for a week, but 48 hours after the anesthesia wore off I was driving my truck to pick up chicken feed! 9+ years later it was time to be replaced. It had up to 6 months left in its battery life, but I wanted to replace it before school started. I have had little pain with either surgery. You’ll love it! The only thing that I know you have to keep away from your pacemaker is your cell phone. I have a wonderful pink lanyard to hang my phone around my neck. So far, so many years, so good!

I had a pacemaker put in in July , got it in morning, went home that afternoon—can’t say I had pain, unless you touched it, and that was more what I would call tender—told Dr. I was suppose to go to baseball game that night—he said no reason I couldn’t go.
