I had no symptoms of heart disease and then I had a TIA, months later found out I have Cardiomyopathy. My EF is 30. My doctor said it can be caused by a virus. I had an antibody test, no results yet. I'm curious, does anyone know about this?
JeffMogul I am learning the nutritionist consult is not standard, I am surprised as it helped me a lot with my care. I know the therapist at the cardio rehab unit I attended also offered to arrange a visit with that hospital’s nutritionist if I wanted it. It was one of the most useful consults I have had. Would recommend it for anyone. I personally think it should be a standard referral for anyone diagnosed with a chronic health condition.
My 30-60 minute walks are timed and I do not count steps or use a pedometer. If I am at the local walking park, it is six blocks from work to the park then two times around the path and back six blocks to work in 30 minutes. At home (in the country) I know the landmarks on my 30 and 60 minute walks. I did measure those distances with my car’s odometer so I know the quarter, half and mile distances when I reach them.
When you do your 30 min do you count how many steps in 30 min.? I have cardiomyopathy also. My heart is hypertrophic and was determined by a stress test & echo. I first noticed shortness of breath. I’ve been going to an exercise class almost all my adult life, and mall walked on the days I didn’t go exercise so you can just imagine my surprise at my diagnosis. I still do both but not as much cuz I start my shortness of breath at 700 steps but push through as long as my heart rate is under 119. Even then the Cardiologist said not to worry I won’t drop dead if I go over. It’s amazing you had no symptoms. Sorry for you. 😪🙏
Do you walk 60 min at once or intermittently?
that is a wonderful & rare thing that hospital personel would recommend a consultation with a nutritionist as part of your treatment .
