Thanks, guys. When they put me back together, they didn't use screws or plates on my sternum. They wrapped my sternum with stainless steel wire. I don't know if that makes a difference, but at first, I had lots of bone chatter when I moved until it started to knit back together.

I am 7 months out of Cabg4 and I have a lot of sternum pain. And a lot of pain in the scar. A couple of my stitches gave me problems at first but now the right side of my chest always seems to hurt. got approval today for pacemaker/ defib implant surgery.

Yes, had my by pass in September and still have aches and pains. Some days are worse than others and at night when you are positioning yourself in bed or turn the wrong way. I had 54 staples to close it up, I feel more discomfort when the barometric pressure falls. They tell me it takes time soooo I will grin and bare it. God is good! So we shall have faith for better days ahead!

Thank you for the information. I thought that this would go away and I guess I was wrong. Seeing how they chop your sternum in half, I guess I'm not surprised that there will be residual pain later.
