Heart Transplant

A MyHeartDiseaseTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have left side heart failure and am wondering if I can get a transplant later. I have a BMI of 30 and exercise regularly. Also, I have restricted airway disease (Asthma, mild), schizophrenia, the symptoms are somewhat under control most of the time but I have occasional bouts of nonviolent words that don't make sense, interruptions, etc. Also, I am obsessive and have smoked cigarettes for years. I'm trying to quit and attending online pulmonary rehab. Could I be a candidate for transplant… read more

I quit by using flavored vape pens you can buy at convenience stores. It worked, then I quit them. I've been cig free for about 6 yrs now. Let me tell you, it isn't easy. I still want a cig after dinner. But my health is more important. Might not be the perfect way to quit, but it worked.

It would be the smart thing and Like I said for the Pain, I dont even recall what a single pack was at the time because I bought 2 or 3 sometimes more because of My screwy Hours working I might be 2 days before getting to go to a store so I kept some on hand With taxes on them they were around 5 bucks a pack well here they are much higher OUR Government taxes everything here Next will be air so you can breath.... the Patches will help lessen the addiction to Nicotine but be realistic IF you smoke heavy and deeply the beginning strongest patch May not even come close to helping you be aware that many folks are doing things out of Habit too.... morning coffee >>> gotta have a cig , finished dinner ? got go light up..break or at least realize you might have these "automatic" light up moments.... QUIT before your arteries Harden with the goop (cholesterol) blocks them or you at least end up with PAD or PVD and your ankles start out being discolored or even speckled like freckles from the lack of blood flow

Quitting, Its not easy I get That I watched age 7 my Father's father pass due to lung cancer, I watch My father died of lung cancer He was in the hospital and waited for me to travel the 70 miles to say his good byes I worked that far off so that i wasnt around as much as when i was a younger guy i took a job at 30 that well I wasnt around that much I drove trucks for years in my 20's and 30's but I was near by then I even changed jobs a few times figuring it was a non smoking environment (never worked) the morning I woke up and the Cardiac ICU nurses told me what was going onI realized IF I was going to have 3 week or 30 more years It was only going to work IF I smartened up.... it was not easy, in 32 days while in the hospital ( made it easier I guess) but they gave me a single patch and it was a 3rd stage patch Like almost 0 nicotine I wore till I was taking in the adhesive as my "fix" I asked for a script when I went home Knowing it wouldn't be long before The urges Might get me to go get a pack.. even held onto a pack I'd bought the night went in for surgery,... and to be honest That 13 year and 8 day old still in the cellophane has shrunk as if it only had 16 in the pack.... honestly I said 14 or 15 times I was "gonna quit" no spine .... I haven't touched any tobacco have never yearned for it Others smoke withing the too close range IT doesn't even bother me, and MY dad used to exhale and cover anyone withing 10 feet in the cloud.. I hated it ... No neediness, no cravings anymore the stay in the hospital was kind of ruff looking out the room window the convenience store was open 24/7 1/2 a block up i thought about it even got dressed one night ready to take a walk ( with my monitor and IV rack lol Ask for the patch (s) sequence and use them change en as needed and Just try One day with 0 is a step forward !! Think of the Money you will save !!!
