I have been on them since I was 21 and now 56 and my daughter who is now 21 has been on them since she was 3 weeks old. will be on them for the rest of my life. My heart rate can and has gone supper high that is why my daughter and I have a pacemaker/defibulator. It is just something you have to do.
My cardiologist said it would be a lifetime med and I've taken them for almost seven years. Apparently they are real important - they do help with lowering blood pressure and slowing down your heart rate, however, I'm still having to get stents.
I've been on a beta blocker for abt 35 yrs now & think of it as my friend.
Mine explained it to my that they will keep opened what is opened. I have 4 blockages, they are 50%blocked, the meds keep it open so they don't get worse. But they do not clear any of it out. Just maintain openings.
I was told by my cardiologist it would be something I would be taking for the rest of my life. I've been on them for 10 years. I'm not a Dr this is just what I've been told. Just double check with your Dr. GOOD LUCK :)
