Fast irregular heartbeat , my gp sent me to the rapid access chest pain clinic even though I had no chest pain I was feeling tired all the time and was short of breath , I thought they would prescribe me some medication to make me better but it was worse than that I found out I had mitral regurgitation and needed open heart surgery to repair the valve I also needed a cox maze procedure since then I have had five cardioversions and two ablations , I still manage to work and get out on my bike today I done 24miles without stopping , I still have a slight blip now and again and have to slow down and rest but today was a good day .
I started having periods of irregular heartbeat, racing heart. At first there would be relatively short periods and then they became longer in duration. When that happens, my body feels very weak and my chest feels very full. Even since my open heart surgery they still come. Some of the periods now last much longer and when that happens, I go to ER and there they temporarily stop my heart and get it back on to a regular beat.
sad,to hear ,thank GOD all is well and you can wake up every day ,thanking for another day.smile let go of bitter if you can,BLESS YOU.
I had the procedure done at Hartford Hospital this past December. I am not sure if the mitral valve replacement has the final approval yet.
During my annual physical the Physicians Assistant ( a smart, bright young woman from Hong Kong) caught it. I had aortic stenosis but didn't notice any warning signs. Felt a bit breathless going up stairs and workouts in the gym were a bit harder to get through but I thought it was because I was a bit older and not as young as I used to be. Thank God that young woman caught it ---- if not I might not be here.
